F3 LABS is an AI research institute and machine learning training lab that empowers Black people in low-income communities to not just participate in the AI revolution—but to lead it.
F3 = Future × Freedom × Flourish
F3 LABS is more than an AI research institute—we are a movement.
We exist to empower Black people in low-income communities with the knowledge, skills, and resources to build careers in artificial intelligence, while simultaneously creating AI systems that authentically represent our culture, values, and experiences.
AI WHILEBLACK is our rallying cry and commitment to building artificial intelligence from the Black perspective—where our lived experiences, cultural knowledge, and innovation shape the technology of tomorrow.
It means training machine learning models that understand us, creating algorithms that don't harm us, and ensuring Black people aren't just users of AI—but the creators, researchers, and leaders defining its future.
"We don't just want a seat at the table—we're building our own."
— F3 LABS Founding Principle
Black people make up less than 3% of AI researchers and tech workers, despite being 13% of the U.S. population.
High tuition costs, lack of mentorship, and limited access to resources keep talented individuals from breaking into AI.
AI systems have up to 35% higher error rates on Black faces, perpetuating harm in facial recognition and more.
F3 LABS attacks this problem from three angles: Education, Research, and Community.
A future where Black communities don't just consume AI technology—we create it, control it, and profit from it.
By 2030, we aim to help 10,000 Black professionals secure six-figure careers in AI, creating generational wealth and closing the racial wealth gap.
Build AI systems by us, for us—language models that understand AAVE, facial recognition that works on Black skin, and algorithms free from systemic bias.
Whether you're a beginner curious about AI or an experienced engineer ready to give back, there's a place for you at F3 LABS.
AI is already shaping hiring decisions, loan approvals, criminal justice, healthcare, and more. If we're not at the table building these systems, we'll continue to be harmed by them.
Studies show facial recognition systems have up to 35% higher error rates on Black faces, leading to wrongful arrests.
AI resume screening tools systematically reject Black candidates with identical qualifications to white candidates.
AI chatbots struggle with African American Vernacular English and often reinforce harmful stereotypes.
We celebrate our brilliance and refuse to shrink.
We lift as we climb, sharing knowledge freely.
We build technology that serves, not harms.
We create boldly and think beyond limits.
"AI will either be the tool that liberates us or the weapon that oppresses us. At F3 LABS, we choose liberation."
— F3 LABS Manifesto
The AI revolution is happening now. You can either be left behind or lead the charge. The choice is yours.
